Regional Ecosystem Enablers – Strengthening Ghana’s Innovation Ecosystem from the Ground Up

Ghana Hub Network (GHN) is committed to building a strong, inclusive, and well-coordinated innovation ecosystem across Ghana.

As part of this mission, GHN has introduced a Regional (Belt Based) Ecosystem Enabler structure to deepen engagement with innovation hubs, strengthen local coordination, and ensure that regional perspectives meaningfully inform national ecosystem development.

Who Are Regional Ecosystem Enablers?

Regional Ecosystem Enablers are GHN’s focal leads at the regional (belt) level. They work closely with member hubs, ecosystem actors, and partners within their geographic jurisdictions to support collaboration, research, programming, and partnership development.

They serve as a bridge between the GHN Secretariat and innovation hubs, ensuring that regional challenges, opportunities, and insights are well represented in GHN’s national initiatives.

The Belt Structure

GHN operates through four geographic belts to ensure effective coverage and localized coordination:

  • Northern Belt
Northern, Savanna, North East, Upper East, Upper West Regions
  • Middle Belt
Ahafo, Ashanti, Bono, Bono East, Western North Regions
  • Eastern Belt
    Eastern, Volta, Oti Regions
  • Southern Belt
    Greater Accra, Central, Western Regions

Each belt is supported by a dedicated Regional Ecosystem Enabler who understands the local context and innovation landscape of the area.

What Do Regional Ecosystem Enablers Do?

Regional Ecosystem Enablers play a critical role in strengthening the innovation ecosystem by:

Hub Engagement & Coordination

  • Coordinating regular engagement with GHN member hubs
  • Supporting onboarding and active participation of hubs
  • Acting as the primary liaison between hubs and the GHN Secretariat

Ecosystem Research & Insights

  • Documenting regional challenges, gaps, and opportunities
  • Gathering insights, data, and success stories from hubs
  • Supporting evidence-based ecosystem development

Program & Activity Support

  • Supporting the implementation of GHN programs at regional level
  • Mobilising hubs for national and regional initiatives
  • Assisting with events, workshops, and ecosystem engagements

Partnerships & Collaboration

  • Identifying and coordinating local partnerships
  • Supporting collaborations with public, private, development, and civil society actors
  • Strengthening linkages that benefit hubs and the broader ecosystem

Why This Matters

Innovation ecosystems thrive when local realities inform national action. The Regional Ecosystem Enabler structure ensures that:

  • Regional voices are heard
  • Hubs are better supported
  • Opportunities are identified closer to the ground
  • Partnerships are built where impact is strongest

Through this structure, GHN continues to promote inclusive growth, collaboration, and shared learning across Ghana’s innovation ecosystem.
